I got this for work in the childrens home i was doing a transition One of the service users there used it to communicate with her parent who was profoundly deaf and i knew she had a larger version of this book As i was keen to learn and i knew she needed someone to bound with i bought it I found it to be highly knowledgeable and easy to understand I would highly recommend this book if you wanted to learn It came before i expected to and its a great size to slip in your bag.

I m a beginner at sign language, my new next door neighbour is deaf and communicates with her family with signing, so I thought I was have a try so I can talk to her It s not as easy as it looks I only knew the alphabet from school and had forgotten most of that as it was nearly 40 years ago I was pleased to find the book showed the alphabet again so I could re learn it The pictures are mostly easy to understand, and the explanation of what to do is very good it involves facial expressions as well It s like learning a new language My only complaint is that some common words like face are not included, but this is a small book I plan to buy another larger book as well.

The day after I bought this little book I was asked directions by someone who couldnt hear or speak, which made me think very deeply about the need for everone to have the minimal knowledge of some sign language. So Everyone should have a copy of this very handy little book with some really good drawings clearly showing the signs. We have had great fun too using the drawings as guessing games for children and adults Many of the signs are obvious for example yes and no and stop so anyone would be surprised that with a little thought we can all communicate a bit in sign language.A book for every home, do get it, it is fun.
