i m currently studying a 10 credit unit in british sign language as part of my course at university This was one of two books recommended for the unit the other was sign language for dummies. This book was helpful for a short course of study, its easy to use a lot like a dictionary, you just flick through the pages and find what it is that you are trying to communicate The first several pages are useful in demonstrating how to actually physically make the sign with some basic skills and the alphabet ectcetra The illustrations are clear and aren t confusing, annotations help you to create the signs and facial expressions correctly without extensive reading.I d definitely recommend it for anyone else who is studying BSL It s also suitable for all ages, and a good starting piont for learning BSL, i cannot comment on advanced levels of BSL as the topic i m taking is my first experience of sign language.

I am currently learning sign language level i in bsl and this book is vital to learning I have tried many a time to copy a picture of what a sign should be but this book takes that need away and means you can look up anything you are stuck with and then revise at home I advise purchase before you start any course and take the pressure away
