After her foster mother’s unexplained death six months ago fourteen year old Isla Timearth just wants things to go back to normal for her and her twin brother Monty But “normal” can only go so far for a closed off girl with abandonment issues and an anxious boy that gets freuent nosebleeds Still the troubled redheads give it a shot by returning to the summer camp they’ve been going to for years Aside from her crush showing up unexpectedly the summer starts out as Isla expected she participates in multiple activities with her friends while her brother shies away from doing anything with anyone But camp traditions get rained on when their biological mother shows up unannounced and as far as Isla’s concerned unwelcomeKnowing that Mother Nature is the mother of all mood swings Isla isn’t all that surprised to find out that her temperamental biological mother is the terrestrial goddess What does surprise her is that Monty the favorite twin already knew but never told her Despite being annoyed that such a huge secret was kept from her Isla has always uestioned the loyalty of her own flesh and blood But once family secrets start to unravel around her fellow campers Isla finds out whether blood really is thicker than water

This was absolutely amazing from start to finish I loved the balance between supernatural powers and regular teenage bonding The characters were very lovable and made the story a super fun experience Definitely recommend it for anyone looking for something different

Some parts of this book I really liked For example I really liked the supernatural concepts of the book I won’t go into detail because you don’t find out about them in detail until something like 90% of the way through the book However I do feel that as a book there’s room for improvement so I like to think of this book was a short prologue instead It makes me happier that way like an introduction to this worldThis is the type of story that opens up a lot of possibilities There’s a lot that can happen in the future novels Again I can’t go into detail with my thoughts though because the main punch of the book is at the last 95% and I’d end up giving spoilers so best not I like a book that isn’t limited to just one option in the next book Sometimes it can be really predictable but thankfully this book has left all options wide open and I like thatMy biggest gripe with this book is the main drama doesn’t happen until we’re 90 95% of the way through the book Usually it’d happen roughly 50% of the way through to keep us hooked but most the information the reader needs to know happens in this last 10% It’s not that I don’t like where the action happened it’s that the book has such huge potential and a lot could have been done Now having said that we need to keep in mind this is a young adult novel not an adult one and the timeframe for the book is only four days All in all I think this balances it out My next gripe is what on earth? The main character and her friends are all fourteen years old the way they act well lets just say I was a little older when I started acting like that I was about sixteen I think this was uite a let down for me because I felt like the age of the characters was a little out of place they come across as acting at least two years older I can uite honestly say I was never worried about my looks my body or anything further than kissing a guy at fourteen and nor where my friends so I say again what on earth? It comes across as out of place and much suited to characters about sixteen years old bodies are developed etc The good news I do think this is a really good book for a younger audience mid teens There’s nothing explicit in it in any way I really like the authors take on magic both with its pros and cons and its uses Due to this this is one of the reasons I’m glad I read the book I probably wouldn’t read it again I’d expect the next book to have a lot action in it now that we’ve been introduced to this strange and wonderful new world If you read this book I hope you enjoy If you'd like to read of my reviews please visit my book blog at wwwanovelstartcom

35 starsI've won a copy of this in a giveaway Thanks to the author for giving me a chance to read itTwins Isla and Monty Timearth was the exact opposite of each other Isla was a the popular one the social butterfly while her brother was all the different with his shy introvert brooding personality At first Isla was a character that's hard to like I mean she was a bitter pretentious self centered kid with so many issues going on with her teenage life She likes to go out of her way to please others while but still avoid to get close toomuch for them to know her real world her family issues etc her words actually not mine But as you get to know her you'll find how loyal and a dedicated person she is And she's funny tooWhile I find Monty's shyness endearing I still think there's something definitely OFF about him In my book wellit was ALWAYS the silent onesAnd the characters are also a mix of oddities If I were to pick someone to like I'll pick Deacon because I think he's the only sane person in the camp He's so mature and he always knows all the right things to say to make the other person feel special For about the first half I honestly couldn't tell if I was liking the story that much I thought it would be great for a much younger audience coz it basically had teen characters and it happens in a camp But as I go on I find it entertaining enough and learned to appreciate the storyMy personal favorite is the part where the twins found out about their true heritage and the things that came with it this is where its proven that they were really Opposites Isla felt betrayed that her twin had kept it from her well at least the part about their biological mom was not only Mother Nature herself but a psychotic avenging EntityThe writing was good but I wish there were less dialouges endless chatters and constant bickerings among the characters at some point it was becoming redundant and the actual plot was set asideOverall I enjoyed reading this It has a promising plot great potentials and the makings of something great I'm looking forward to know about the twins how they will eventually grow and developed into something exuberant knowing their parentage and how they will have to deal with everything that happened I would love to read the next books
